About Embrace You
Who We Are

Embrace You Weight & Wellness was founded by Dr. Sylvia Gonsahn-Bollie, a double board-certified obesity specialist, speaker, and author passionate about transforming weight and wellness care—especially for Black women and underserved communities. Inspired by her personal health journey and frontline experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Sylvia launched Embrace You in 2020 to provide evidence-based, personalized care for weight and metabolic health.
What began as a telehealth and coaching service has grown into a community-centered organization focused on outreach, education, and advocacy. Embrace You has been a Black Physicians Health Network (BPHN) Coalition Partner since 2022 and an Outreach and Education Partner from 2022 to 2025, delivering impactful public health initiatives and culturally relevant wellness programs.
We believe that health and wellness are rights—not privileges. Our mission is to empower individuals with culturally-tailored education, support, and tools needed to thrive. Through accessible programs, expert-led talks and workshops, and meaningful partnerships, we take action to break down barriers and address the root causes of health disparities.

Embrace You W.E.L.L. Walks & Workshops
As a proud Walk With a Doc partner, Embrace You Weight & Wellness hosts monthly W.E.L.L. (Walk, Eat, Live Lighter) Walks that bring whole-person wellness to life—body, mind, and spirit. Our walks are designed to empower participants—especially those in the Black community—to take steps toward better health in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Each walk kicks off with a short, empowering health talk led by Dr. Sylvia Gonsahn-Bollie, an obesity physician-researcher, bestselling author, and advocate for health equity, or other trusted local health professionals. We’ve proudly partnered with organizations like GirlTrek to expand our impact, and our most recent season included 87 participants, who collectively walked over 400 miles.
This season, we’re also offering a special community workshop guided by Embrace You: Your Body-Mind-Spirit Cookbook & Wellness Journal.
We envision an equitable world where people are treated well regardless of their size and obesity care is individualized for all.
A Body-Mind-Spirit Approach
Body
Embrace You Weight & Wellness is founded and led by Dr. Sylvia Gonsahn-Bollie, MD, DABOM, FOMA, an obesity expert. Our focus is on Evidence Based Medicine and staying current on the latest scientific evidence, especially in body fat regulation, obesity, metabolic health, and preventable diseases. There are no “general patients,” so we encourage and teach about precision medicine to individualize care for all.
At Embrace You, you are not just a number on the scale or a medical condition. We empower individuals with tools needed to optimize their metabolism for healthy, maintainable weight loss at their happy, healthy weight.

Until individuals shift their mindset, it's hard to lose weight, keep it off, and enjoy the journey. Many of these powerful signals start with thoughts. At Embrace You, we are award-winning mental health advocates & mental wellness champions.
We use proven tools in our books, courses, speaking engagements, and articles to help individuals break through mindset blocks and embrace new ways of thinking.

Spirit
At Embrace You, spiritual wellness is appreciated as an essential component of total wellness. There is a spiritual side to us that desires health and wholeness regardless of beliefs or religious inclination. Embrace You Weight & Wellness is founded in Christ’s love and welcomes ALL people.
We define spiritual wellness as fulfillment in 4 C's:
